Engraved Remington Type II Over and Under Derringer Pistol with Case
Manufactured from 1888 to 1911. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y." on the top rib. Matching numbers are present on the lower barrel and the left side of the frame beneath the grip. The barrels and frame show approximately 95% coverage of period scroll engraving. Grips are smooth mother of pearl with a bird's head butt. With a book shaped case, hardwood and painted canvas, with "1889" on the spine and "COMPLIMENTS/ OF THE / SEASON" on the cover in gold lettering, opening to show a tintype portrait of a young woman secured to the lid and three compartments, one with a wood lid, the other two open.

Condition: Excellent as period engraved, with 95% of the original nickel finish, showing some light spotting, a few areas of flaking and mild handling marks overall. Grips are excellent, with minimal handling marks and fine colors. The case is good, with some cracking of the paint at the hinge and mild scuffing. Mechanically fine.
