This is a beautiful example of a cased engraved Remington Rolling Block pistol with a beautiful ivory forearm and relief carved grip. The barrel, frame, back strap and trigger guard are decorated with floral scroll engraving with a matte background. There is also a decorative border on the sides of the frame. The top of the barrel at the breech is stamped with "I/W.D.W./anchor", the lower left side of the frame is marked with the standard two line address/patent dates and the lower right side is marked "P/W.C.F.". Blue barrel and frame, with gold hammer, breechblock, trigger guard, standard pinched blade front, and breechblock notch rear sights. The pistol is mounted with a smooth ivory forearm and one-piece grip with a relief carved eagle, shield and anchor U.S. Navy symbol over "USN" on the right side. Complete in a contemporary walnut display case with French cut red velvet lining.

Condition:
Professionally embellished with 99% of the blue finish remaining on the barrel and frame. The hammer, breechblock and trigger guard retain 95% of the gold finish. The forearm and grip are both very fine with an attractive grain and patina, and sharp relief carving. The engraving remains sharp and the markings are clear. The action is excellent. The contemporary case is good with numerous minor scratches on the exterior and some light contact wear on the lining.
