Engraved Remington Beals Navy Single Action Percussion Revolver, #2663, .36 cal., 7.5" octagon barrel, originally with blued finish, brass trigger guard, double wing cylinder pin, two-piece walnut grips, dovetailed blade front sight, and added fixed rear sight blade. With fine scroll engraving on the sides and top of the frame, as well as top of the backstrap. Barrel address reads "BEALS PATENT, SEPT. 14, 1858/MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y." Visible matching numbers on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. The Remington Beals Navy revolver was produced circa 1861-1862, with approx. 14,500 produced. Overall condition is good, with an even brown patina to the metal. There is some intermittent light pitting around some of the edges, on the frame in front of the cylinder, and some minor specks on the barrel. Grips are near fine, showing pleasing grain patterns, retaining the majority of their oil finish, with expected light marks from age and use. Engraving appears to be of the period, is well accomplished, and mostly clear. Action is crisp and cycles smoothly. Bore with scattered moderate erosion and good, clearly defined rifling. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
