The 16 gauge barrels feature 2 9/16" chambers, extra full/improved modified chokes and an extractor. The rifle is chambered for the 9mm X 70R cartridge. The matte rib is marked "GEBRUDER MERKEL, SUHL" and the barrels are nitro proofed. Beaded blade front and folding leaf rear sights with claw mounts. The scalloped box lock action has cocking indicators and features a floral engraving with game scenes on the sides. The left receiver side has two dogs chasing a wild boar, right side has a deer scene, and the underside also has a stag scene. The underside of the receiver is marked "ORIGINAL / MERKEL-ANSON-SYSTEM". Greener style safety, tang selector and horn triggerguard. Mounted with a checkered pistol grip stock with grip cap, cheekpiece and solid recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches.

Condition: Fine. The barrels retain 75% plus of the original blue finish showing minor thinning with some minor handling marks. The action is a smooth gray. There are some slivers of horn missing from the trigger guard. The shortened wood is very good with numerous minor pressure dents and scratches with a couple gouges on the forearm. The recoil pad has deformed with age.
