Serial #47378, .36 cal, 6 3/8" period shortened barrel with a fair bore showing moderate oxidation & strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this revolver are mostly lightly cleaned gunmetal with the cylinder & loading lever a darker gray patina, some scattered old pitting, freckling & small dings. The brass trigger-guard and back-strap are a mix of goldenrod & ocher patina with some strong silver plate remaining in the protected areas near the trigger-guard. The cylinder motifs are still quite strong, obscured some by dark freckling & the revolver is embellished with expert foliate scrollwork with punch-dot shading. The smooth walnut one piece grip is mismatched pencil-numbered 9682 but remains in very good condition showing some oil soaking, small dings, scratches & handling marks & fitting very well. A number of the screws, the un-numbered wedge &the loading lever are replacements. The barrel, trigger-guard & back-strap are numbered to the frame, the arbor is un-numbered & the cylinder is appears to be numbered 5577. The spring plate is missing & mechanical function is still very strong with good timing & lockup. This revolver is still a solid representative example of an engraved Manhattan. 9936-032418-IN-00362
