Engraved Klawitter Double Barrel Side by Side Percussion Shotgun From the Collection of Legendary Co
This percussion shotgun has the distinction of once belonging to legendary country singer Johnny Cash (February 26, 1932-September 12, 2003). Included are two letters and a photo of this shotgun signed by Johnny Cash attesting to the fact that this shotgun was indeed in his collection. A third letter signed by his secretary Kelly Hancock states that she was present and witnessed Cash sign the photo and letter. The shotgun has a single brass bead front sight on a solid rib with Damascus barrels. The fish sculpted hammers feature a scroll engraving and are equipped with hammer stops. The lock plates are engraved with field scenes with the left plate marked "HERZBERG" and the right plate marked "KLAWITTER". August Franz Klawitter (1824-1893) was the court gun maker for the king of Hannover. The scroll trigger guard is engraved with a rabbit in a field scene and the top of the frame has a dog grasping a bird. Smooth forearm and checkered straight grip stock with sling swivels and an iron buttplate marked "2004".
