Engraved John Dickson & Son Double Barrel Pinfire Rifle with Case

The solid matte barrel rib is equipped with a blade front sight and a four leaf rear sight (one fixed and three folding marked "100", "150" and "200"). The top of the left barrel is marked "JOHN DICKSON & SON" and the top of the right barrel is marked "63 PRINCES STREET, EDINBURGH". The underside of the barrels are marked "2526" and "JD&S". The barrel flats are marked "TE and "38" along with "crown/V" and "crown/GP" proofs. The forearm hardware, frame, lock plates, hammers, under lever and trigger guard feature an engraved scroll pattern. The lock plates have sliding hammer safeties and are marked "JOHN DICKSON/& SON". The water table is marked "2526", "JDS" and "JOSEPH BRAZIER/ASHES" along with two "crown/V" proofs. The nicely figured forearm and straight grip stock feature multi-point checkering, a cheekpiece, a blank silver initial oval on the underside and checkered steel buttplate. Drop at heel 2 1/8 inches, drop at comb 1 inch. The oak case has a paper John Dickson & Son 63 Princes Street label and is lined in leather. The case also holds the following accessories: a gunpowder tin, a "2526/JD&S" marked single cavity bullet mold, an oiler, two screwdrivers, a three piece cleaning rod with three brass attachments, a packing rod, tin of pinfire primers, boxed Tomlinson bore cleaning tool with brass wire sides and wire brush bore pull through with leather pouch.

Very fine as period refinished. The barrels retain nearly 97% of the blue finish showing some thinning to a brown. The action retains 80% of the case colors. The wood is also very fine with a few minor pressure dents and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine. The case is very good with a full length hairline crack present on the lid and some wear to the lining.
