This is an excellent example of a engraved two barrel set German double barrel side lock shotgun. Each set of barrels is 30" in length with a single brass bead sight on the concave solid matte rib. One set is 16 gauge with 2 3/4" chambers, choked extra full/extra full with ejectors, the other set is 12 gauge with 2 3/4" chambers, choked extra full/ extra full with ejectors. Both sets are blue, numbered to the gun and have a sling swivel mounted on the underside. The breech end of the 16 gauge barrels has a small recessed oval depicting a man holding a rifle next to him. The barrels share the same forearm. The tops of the barrels at the breech end are marked "SPECIAL - GEWEHR - LAUF / STAHL" three intertwined circles "FRIED, KRUPP, A.G. / ESSEN" on both sides. The action is engraved with an oak leaf and acorn motif and a rabbit running in a forest scene on the bottom. The locks are engraved with wildlife scenes of a deer and pheasant in a forest scene on the left side and fox and duck in a forest marsh scene on the right side. There is also an oak leafs and acorn pattern at the front and rear of each lock. The trigger guard is engraved with the same oak leaf and acorn motif. Cross bolt action, cocking indicators, double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety and mounted with a high gloss varnished straight grain checkered walnut forearm with a horn forend insert and pistol grip stock with a horn grip cap, checkered black plastic buttplate and a sling swivel. The trigger guard and break lever also retain 99% original blue finish. The receiver and side plates retain virtually all of the original satin coin finish. The wood is also excellent with all of the original varnish remaining, with only the slightest handling/storage marks and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear, the engraving is sharp.
