Engraved Damascus Percussion Rifle
There are no maker markings, however there is an English crown/V proof on the barrel and breech plug and a Liege ELG proof on the barrel at the breech. Fixed sights, with a very attractive alternating Damascus pattern on the hexadecagonal barrel. The dog head hammer is accented with relief chiseled scroll pattern. The lock plate has a scroll engraving that incorporates a bird on a matte background. The upper tang has a scroll engraving on a matte background and the breech plug and breech end of the barrel have engraved bands. The brass trigger guard features a relief chiseled scroll floral design which extends to the three silver barrel bands positioned towards the rear of the barrel. The rifle has a single set trigger. The varnished full length straight grip stock has sling swivels mounted on the left side and a thick horn buttplate. Most likely made for the Eastern Trade.
