Each Damascus barrel set features a single brass bead sight on the concave solid rib both marked "J. PURDEY, 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET, LONDON". Both have 2 3/4" chambers with an extractor. The 30" barrels gauge at a loose cylinder and the 29 3/8" gauges at improved modified. The barrels share the same splinter forearm and are numbered to the gun. The action, locks, hammers and trigger guard have fine English scroll engraving with "PURDEY" on each lock and "PURDEY'S / PATENT" on the bottom of the frame. Mounted with a checkered nicely figured, oil finished walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock an engraved heel and toe plate, crudely checkered bare butt and a silver initial oval. Complete in an oak and leather case with "ROLF CREYKE" on the lid with a brass disk and two labels affixed to the inside of the lid (barely readable due to oil staining), a three piece wooden cleaning rod, leather hand protector and oiler. Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina with much of the original Damascus pattern remaining. The wood is also good with some heavy wear to the checkering and scattered minor dings and scratches. The engraving and markings are clear. The mechanics are fine. The case is also very good with scuffs and scratches on the exterior, a large splinter of wood absent on the interior and some wear and stains on the lining. The handle has separated from the case, and is inside the case.
