Beautifully Engraved 1st Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver, engraved by Carmine Lombardy, #91136, .45 Colt cal., 5.5'' barrel, nickel finish, with modern-accomplished high quality New York style engraving, and one-piece ivory grips. Revolver originally mfg'd in 1883. Accompanied with this revolver is a letter from James Alaimo, former superintendent of the Colt Custom Gunshop, who after giving some background information on Carmine Lombardy, states that the Colt Custom Shop has recognized his talents for engraving, and he often engraved for both the Colt Custom Gunshop and a few special other clients. He further states that the engraving coverage is a very generous C++ level of Lombardy expert extra-fancy scroll using a blended style of both Helfricht and Nimschke. Front sight and hammer are engraved as well. Plating is a very fine nickel performed by the same platers that do the work for the Colt Custom Gunshop. Surface of the engraving is inked and baked, adding depth to the overall affect. Mr. Lombardy was so proud of this particular revolver that he signed it in three separate locations, none of which is visible without partial disassembly. Grips are meticulously hand-fitted African elephant ivory in the one-piece configuration, and Mr. Alaimo states that he personally selected and fit this ivory to this revolver, just as he did as former superintendent of the Colt Custom Gunshop. Condition is excellent and appearing as new as the day it left the engraver's shop. As fine a modern engraved antique revolver as you will find. Est.: $5,000-$7,500. (Antique)
