English iron barrel flintlock blunderbuss in “as found out of the attic condition” circa about 1810 to 1830. The gun measures 32” overall with 17” barrel which flares to 1 ¾” across the muzzle with approximately 1 ½inch bore. The iron barrel and lock show light to heavy scattered pitting and erosion. The lock is less pitted than the barrel which shows deep pits. The top jaw is missing and the action does not work. The stockshows many wormholes and breaks with losses particularly in the areas of the butt plate and around the muzzle. The brass mounts show a deep patina and are nicely engraved. There are small losses around the area of the lock. Few guns of this era are found completely untouched and unrestored as gun collectors over the last hundred years have restored just about everything at least once, sometimes twice and in some cases we areseeing guns with their 3rd 4th and 5th reincarnation which sadly seldom improve them. Est.: $500-$1,000
