English air-gun cane, .31 caliber pneumatic in original case with accessories showing John Blisset label in lid which shows his address at 316 & 321 High Holborn with legend “Every description of pistol and airgun manufactured” mid 19th century. The gun portion of the cane is .31 caliber smoothbore. The cane consists of two metal sections which screw together and are approx. .36-1/2” in length. Black enamel or Japan finish with removable end piece which contains a loading rod. The cane shows a small front and rear sight, and a pop-out button trigger when cocked by wing-shaped key. The body of the cane-gun shows 80-90% original enamel, some flaking and peeling. Areas where the enamel paint has peeled show some rust and erosion. The gun is working; a hole in my office ceiling will attest to this. The original black Japan brass fitted pump and black enameled handle are included, along with mold and cocking key. And the compartment cover is original with brass pull and contains many lead balls (one less than when it was consigned). The interior of the red velveteen lined partition case is very good plus with just some normal aging, fraying, and indentations. The trade label is near fine, just
