English Officer’s type Fusil in its original flintlock configuration by W. Brander, .69 cal., 42” barrel, brass mounts, marked “43 Dorset” at breech and “43” on accompanying original bayonet and also stamped “43” at the wrist. The musketshows standard British military style configuration and “43 Dorset” was most probably a militia unit. The musket shows lightly cleaned metal surfaces with slight areas of minor erosion and very slight pitting. Original top jaw, screw,frizzen and small parts on lock along with original swivels and ramrod. The stock is very good plus with some small slivers of wood at top edge missing, normal dings, mars scratches and a few minor losses. The stock shows a relieved comb (almost Roman nosed) and Revolutionary era style sideplate. The barrel shows L.M. and British proofs. A quality British musket near the Revolutionary War era.
