English Boxlock double barrel 12 gauge shotgun by Coltman & Co., addressed Burton on Trent, with articulated and adjustable stock or so-called "try-gun" used by manufacturers to fit customer to his shotgun. No serialnumber visible. The gun shows 29-3/4" barrels, tapered and non-ventilated rib, standard extractors, double triggers, blue and case hardened finish; nitro proofed for 2-1/2" shells, retaining 90-95% original blue and bright case hardening. Very good wood stocks, a key type device for adjusting the stock is included. The bores are fine to excellent, but the gun appears to have been shot a small amount, probably just testfiring. A good collector's item, but also useful for dealers to fit customers. We date the gun to approximately 1900-1920s. Note: This gun was used by Holland & Holland for many years at their manufacturing plant, asper experts at Ivory Beads, Covina, CA. Est.: $1,500-$3,000
