An attractive 58mm, 82 gram Silver Ashburton Shield medal, awarded by England's National Rifle Association in 1912 to Private O.G. Breul, for rugby. Rev: standing portraits of a 15th century archer at left, 1850 solder at right, "SIT PERPETUUM" at bottom, with engraver's "WATERLOW & SONS LIMP" in tiny raised letters at lower-right. Obv: raised letters within encircling wreath, "N.R.A. / ASHBURTON / SHIELD", hand-engraved below, "PTE. O.G. BREUL / RUGBY / 1912". Nicely-toned gEF, with quite minor bruising of raised rims.
