Custom Engraved and Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Trap Shotgun, #1435138, 12 ga., 2-3/4'' chamber, bright blue finish, 30'' barrel with factory matted ventilated rib, middle white bead, missing front bead, Full choke, gold-plated manual button safety in triggerguard, bright engine-turned bolt, carrier and extractor/ This circa 1954 gun is engraved in a style similar to the original Winchester No. 12-5 factory pattern having the receiver assembly and barrel chamber area engraved with broad foliate scroll and punch dot backgrounds bordering four gold inlaid mallards in flight over wetlands on the right side of the frame, with a gold inlaid grouse and two gold inlaid English Pointers on the left side; lower receiver extension has a lightly engraved pigeon; engraver's initials ''L.C.'' are just forward of the loading port. The Monte Carlo pistol-grip stock and handle are semi-gloss finish, dark burl figure AAA claro walnut with 18-line-per-inch checkering and plain steel grip cap. Length of pull is 14'' over a 3/4'' solid black Pachmayr recoil pad; drop at comb: 1-1/2''; drop at M.C.: 1-1/2''; drop at heel: 1-7/8''; weight is 8-1/4 lbs. Condition remains very fine as enhanced and refinished showing moderate use with tight action and bright bore, 98% reblue with scattered hairline scratches and indentations along rib sides and barrel, original grip cap finish fading and chipped, original blue worn on magazine tube, underside of receiver oxidizing, screw heads generally marred. Stock revarnish has areas of clouding over the earlier finish and a few very small handling marks. Est.: $2,800-$3,600. (C&R)
