<td width="100%">
Empire style crackle glaze ceramic box hand-decorated underglaze with floral and birds design in a magnificent fashion. The handle and the frame of the box are made from bronze d'ore with very intricate decorations. The bottom is inscribed with a royal crown over wreaths with the date 1895, intials WL and 3 towers above and one below. The sides have a gilded bronze decoration featuring a bearded man's head. Unconfirmed Internet reports that ceramics with the inscription WL 1895 were produced by a company named Wong Lee in Hong Kong on recent time. The search for a name with this name and location in Hong Kong did not reveal that such company ever existed or produced these exclusive crackle glaze faience. Further on, a search with the Chinese Government Ministry of Commerce, revealed that no company with such name as Wong Lee registered in Hong Kong or in China. Hearsay about the production and release for sale of this kind of ceramic appears to be practically valueless. Length: 10.2" (27 cm.). Width: 6.2" (16 cm.). Height: 8.2" (21.2 cm.). Estimated value: $10000.
