Silver, 797 g. The empire variation of an ancient Roman can. Round, profiled base, cast and chiselled lance-shaped leaves, amphora like elegant body. Rolled palmette frieze at the shoulder. The spout is depicting a Roman boy in tunic holding a jug. Shaped original wooden handle with cast birds. Detachable cover with pierced rim with stylised foliate motif ornamentation. The final is a sitting lion. Minor restorations. Marked: Augsburg, circa 1810, tax stamp fro Prague 1810-1821, Johann Alois Seethaler and Christian Friedrich Temmler. Seling: 297, 2637, 2638 Comment: Seethaler and Temmler became masters in 1796, more of their mutual works are known.
