Produced by Empire Art Gold during the early years of the 20th century. This Ormolu jeweled tray features an unusual ¾ inch thick, mottled yellow, Bakelite or slag glass center. The ormolu frame is adorned with an intricate pattern of floral garlands, ribbons and has bowed handles. Six filigree metalwork plaques are placed around the top of the tray's ormolu frame, each bezel set with a 3/4 inch semi-precious stone cabochon and is further decorated with colorful triangular bezel set faux jewels on either side. Additional triangular glass jewels, making a total of 18 small and 6 large stones, separate the filigree plaques. The two large stones adjacent to the handles are a turquoise color with a topaz color center while the remaining four large stones have shades of green. The faux jewels are in colors of red, blue, yellow and turquoise. The tray stands on four balled feet and is marked with - Empire Art Gold E. & J.B.' and the Crown. Measures about 15 inches across the handled sides x 11 1/2 inches internal diameter with a height of 1 1/4 inches. The top of the ormolu frame is tarnished, one triangular turquoise color stone is missing adjacent to one handle, all the other stones are intact and the rest of the tray in excellent condition
