<B>Emperor Napoleon Letter to his Minister of War</B></I> Manuscript LS: "<I>Np,</B></I>" in French as Emperor, half page, 7.25" x 9". Fontainbleu, January 27, 1813. To his Minister of War, le Duc de Feltre. English translation, in full: "<I>I received your letter of the 26 January. My intention is that the Merchant Commissioner shall be the commissioner for the reconnaissance party of Elbe. Know that I pray God that he keep you under his protection.</B></I>" Two lines in Feltre's hand on 2.5" x 1.5" sheet affixed to lower left by a 1" straight pin. In 1807, Napoleon had named Henri Clarke as his Minister of War. Two years later, the Emperor dubbed him Duc de Feltre. Feltre served as Minister of War until the end of Napoleon's reign. In very fine condition. With color print (8" x 11.5" overall, image 6" x 7.5") of a painting depicting Napoleon on a horse in 1814. Print is tattered at blank edges, but image is very fine. Two items.
