Acc. to the family tradition, the emperor predominantly wore this watch during the final two years of his life, from 1914 until his death on 21st November 1916. It was a present from the children of his daughter Archduchess Marie Valerie and Archduke Franz Salvator. Following his death the watch was inherited by Archduchess Marie Valerie.
