Emma Cheves Wilkins played a pivotal role of the art development in Savannah, Georgia during the Thirty’s and Forty’s. Her studies in Paris led her to influence many other local Savannah artists such as Hattie Saussy and Augusta Oelschig. She is a member of the Aesthetic Movement or “ Art for Art’s Sake”. Her works of art are highly collectible because she was not as prolific as her students that she pressed continually to paint often. It is rare that this example of art is available, for most reside in a number of respected museums and with avid art collectors of Women of the Arts.

This painting has been pampered all its life and is in excellent untouched condition. The canvas size is 24” X 26”. The glided White washed frame was most likely applied during the Fifty’s.
Wilkins is a listed artist in such publications as “Art Across America “(Central/South), “Dictionary of Women Artists” ,”Who Was Who in American Art”, and “Davenport's Art Reference”.
If one has any further questions or would like us to supply other images of this article, please don’t hesitate to email us.
