TLS, one page, 6.25 x 8.5, January 25, 1960. Letter to George, the gentleman who was working on Presley’s car. In full: “I called the Col. last night to tell him you started working on the Caddy and to go ahead and send you a check as soon as he received your bill. He will be staying at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel till the end of Feb. after then you can reach him up at the house.” Accompanied by a 3rd Armored Division patch and three glossy photos of Elvis in the military. In fine condition.

At the time of this letter, Elvis was only about a month away from his honorable discharge from the Army, and evidently Colonel Parker had big plans for Presley upon his return. Elvis’s return to the top would begin with a special “Welcome Home Elvis” appearance on Frank Sinatra’s variety show, for which he was paid a then-record sum of $125,000, and the beginning of filming for his first post-army film, G. I. Blues. Obviously the Colonel and Elvis wanted Elvis to travel in style. Presley's affinity for Cadillacs was legendary. He was not only the King of Rock 'n Roll, but also the King of Cadillac buyers, purchasing at least a hundred during his lifetime. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
