Handsome vintage glossy 7.25 x 9.5 head-and-shoulders photo of a young Elvis, signed and inscribed in blue ink “To Bobbie, Elvis Presley.” Suede matted and framed to an overall size of 20.25 x 22.25. In fine condition, with some mild rippling, a couple of trivial surface creases, and the ink a couple of shades light but entirely readable.

Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating, “The photo was obtained from a fan club president named Bobbie Briggs. The photo was autographed for her on August 5, 1961, in Florida while Elvis was filming his movie Follow That Dream…she snapped a photo of him signing the actual photograph. The photo is enclosed along with her fan club newsletter in which she details…how the photograph was signed.” Accompanied by a copy of the aforementioned candid photo of Elvis signing, and a copy of the newsletter detailing Elvis’s visit.

Imagine the thrill of this young fan club president, certainly Elvis’ biggest fan—at least in her eyes—when she met the King of Rock & Roll. As she gushes in her newsletter, she remembers waiting for Elvis, listening to him sing “Little Sister” from within his temporary residence on the set until he dashed for the make-up room. “Suddenly, before I realized it, Elvis had come out of the make-up room. He was whistling and signing autographs...I asked in a weak and trembling voice if I could have my picture taken with him. he put his arm around me and pulled me to him...and from then on I was delirious!” For any Elvis fan of the era, this was the epitome of success! The image is stunning, to say the least, and one of the finest we have had the privilege of offering. Here is Elvis in his prime—here he is truly the King, or as Bobbi wrote in her newsletter, exuding “his masculine physique, his beautiful brown hair, his gorgeous blue eyes...his complete handsomeness.” Why, it’s enough to make any fan club president swoon. Oversized. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
