Elvis Presley's High School Yearbook, Signed by
Elvis Presley's High School Yearbook, Signed by Elvis. It's The Herald, the 1953 yearbook for Humes High School of Memphis, Tennessee. And there he is, on page 20, Elvis Aron Presley (with spitcurl), one of 12 graduates on that page in his 1.5" x 1.7" black-and-white senior portrait. He's signed in green ink, "Best of luck to a very swell girl, Elvis." Listed as his Major: Shop, History, English. His activities: R.O.T.C., Biology Club, English Club, History Club, Speech Club. The yearbook with its red and gray cover, 112 pages, and faculty/student signatures throughout, is in Excellent condition and Elvis pops up a few times later in it. On page 30, he's mentioned in the Senior Class's "Last Will and Testament," as Elvis and two other students "leave hoping there will be some one to take their places as 'teachers' pets;" on page 56, he's pictured in the back row seat in his 12th grade English class picture; and he's visible on page 60, in the back row (again) in his Biology class picture. In both these shots, the yearbook's former owner has circled his face in blue ink. A teacher's pet, sitting way in the back rows -- would anyone have guessed what was to come? Perhaps -- the insolent handsomeness and star quality are there, even in this homogenized and provincial form. A fascinating curio! Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
