Elvis Presley’s vintage Puka seashell and turquoise necklace, measuring 5.5? in diameter, worn by Presley during production of the 1961 film Blue Hawaii. Mounted and framed with a detached plaque to an overall size of 11.75 x 15.25. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, Dr. George Nichopoulous, in full: “This is to certify that the puca shell & turquoise necklace, was given to me by Elvis Presley; and that Elvis told me he worn [sic] this necklace in the time period of filming Blue Hawaii.” The first of three films Presley shot in Hawaii, Blue Hawaii was followed by 1962’s Girls! Girls! Girls! and 1965’s Paradise, Hawaiian Style. The 26-year-old Presley arrived in Hawaii on March 18, 1961, nearly a month before the film’s location shooting, to rehearse for a March 25 charity concert raising funds for the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. A uniquely wonderful piece of history relating to the King and his well-documented adoration for the Hawaiian islands.
