Elvis Presley's Personally Owned White Silk Concert Scarf Thrown to Fan W/Letter of Provenance - This large, white silk scarf was worn by Elvis Presley during one of his performances, then pulled from his neck and tossed into the audience. Elvis Presley's practice of giving away scarves started in September, 1970 in Phoenix, Arizona. It is said that at that show, Presley gave his scarf to a young fan in the front row, and her elated reaction led to Presley continuing the practice. Tossing scarves to fans in the audience during his live performances in the 1970s became an Elvis trademark. The scarf measures approximately 34.5"x 34.5", and is in its original (worn) condition. The piece will be accompanied by a letter of provenance on personalized stationery from "Ms. Lottie Chafins" which states that the scarf "has actually touched Elvis' neck". Elvis Presley (1935-1977) was an American singer and actor. He was considered the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, and is often referred to as "The King of Rock and Roll" or "the King". Presley is one of the best-selling solo artists in the history of recorded music, with estimated record sales of around 600 million units worldwide. He won three Grammys, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame.
