Elvis Presley 0.50ctw Diamond Solid 14K Yellow Gold & Platinum "Stamps" Ring Designed by Elvis & Given to J.D. Sumner - This incredible piece was designed by Elvis Presley as a gift to his friend J.D. Sumner, who was a gospel singer, songwriter, and music promoter. Sumner managed the Stamps Quartet before becoming their front man, which then became known as J.D. Sumner & The Stamps. As a teenager, Elvis idolized Sumner's singing after seeing him perform with the Sunshine Boys, and hired Sumner & The Stamps as his back-up singers in 1971. The group toured and recorded with Presley from November 1971 until Presley's death in 1977. Sumner not only sang at Elvis' funeral but had previously sung at the funeral of Elvis' mother, Gladys, in 1958. This ring was designed by Elvis Presley himself, and is made of solid 14k yellow gold with a solid platinum "Stamps" detail. The nugget-style ring is in the shape of a grand piano with the "S" of the word "Stamps" in the form of a treble clef. The ring has an intricate sculpted design executed by longtime Elvis jeweler Lowell Hays. The ring is embellished with approx. 0.50ctw genuine VS diamonds, and has the initials "JD" engraved on the inside of the band. These ornate rings are extremely scarce, and only a few examples have ever surfaced. The piece will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Ring size: 11. (WEIGHT: 32.1 grams). This piece will come with a letter of provenance.
