Elvis Memphis Police Department Bill (1969). Here
Elvis Memphis Police Department Bill (1969). Here is a bill from the Memphis Police Department to Elvis Presley, dated January 2, 1969, for $117.84 for services rendered in providing police security at Elvis' New Year's Eve party at the Thunderbird Lounge. Elvis paid $3,000 dollars to rent the lounge, located in the lobby of the Shelbourne Towers Apartments, and hired his own entertainment for the night: the Short Cuts, Billy Lee Riley, Flash and the Board of Directors, and B.J. Thomas. The party was by invitation only and was the talk of the town. However, the event was anticlimactic since Elvis arrived late and left early, and when he left everyone else followed. The document is in fine condition with some discoloration along the right edge and the usual binder holes at the top of the page.
