Elton John’s personally-owned pink flower-patterned suit by Richard James of Savile Row, consisting of a matching single-breasted jacket, long-sleeve button-up shirt, and pair of pants. All three pieces bear Richard James maker’s labels sewn inside. In fine condition, with alterations made to the jacket and pants (not affecting the original appearance). Originally acquired from Elton’s Closet, a pop-up shop for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, in Rockefeller Center in 2006. Elton John discussed these suits and his work with Richard James on the Today show with Matt Lauer when he was interviewed at the pop-up shop—the rack full of his Richard James suits can be seen in the background during the interview. A colorful, flashy piece from John’s wardrobe, this eye-catching ensemble is characteristic of John’s well-known flair for fashion.
