Official floater-style RIAA gold sales award presented "to Bernie Taupin to commemorate the sale of more than one million dollars worth of the MCA Records long-playing record album 'Caribou.'" Framed with its disc, plate, and a small image of the album cover to an overall size of 16.75 x 20.75. Award retains its original backing with Creative Glassics label. In fine condition. The consignor notes that this was obtained from a Taupin family member. Featuring the chart-topping 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me' and 'The Bitch Is Back,' Caribou is one of the gems of Elton John and Bernie Taupin's prolific collaboration. The album was certified gold in July 1974 and nominated for Album of the Year at the 17th Grammy Awards.
