<B>Eloy Alfaro, President of Ecuador, Document Signed,</B></I> four integral pages written on pages one and two, 9.75" x 13.5", Quito, June 1, 1908, in Spanish. Holes on the left edge where it was removed from a binding, toning, and folds, else very good. The document is addressed to General Miguel R. Davila as the president of the Republic of Honduras announcing Alfaro's election as president of the Ecuador. Eloy Alfaro was the leader of the Ecuadorian Liberal Revolution fought between the liberals and the conservatives. The legitimate government in Quito opposed the revolution, conducted by Alfaro, but lost. He is attributed with separating the church from the state, finishing the first railroad from Guayaquil to Quito, legalized divorce, built public schools, and allowed civil marriage.
