Crime fiction writer (1905–1982) who authored the Ellery Queen detective stories along with his cousin, Manfred Bennington Lee. AMS, two pages, 8 x 12.5, circa September 1974, signed and inscribed at the foot in red felt tip, "Dear Colin Huggett, I rescued these from the waste paper basket the day your letter of Feb. 18 arrived. Sincerely, Frederic Danny, ('Ellery Queen')." The pages, numbered "6" and "7," both offer brief handwritten introductions to stories published in the Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine with some information on the authors. The first, in part: "This is the 413th 'first story' to be published by E— Q—'s M— M—…We found this story, believe it or not, in a periodical called 'House Magazine,' the privately printed house organ of Barclays Bank of London. The author, Peter Manlivy, has been associated with Barclays Bank for a considerable part of his life." The second, in part: "This is the 414th 'first story' to be published by E— Q—'s M— M—: The Story of Mary Lou Fremont and What She Found on the Kitchen Floor.' The author, Jane Beckman, has served as a Peace Corps officer in West Africa. At present she is devoting most of her time to writing." In fine condition.
