Francis and Co, 1851), 234 pages, green-cloth binding with gold lettering, 12mo (7.5" x 4.75"), mylar dust jacket. Victorian poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861) originally translated "Prometheus Bound," the epic work of ancient Greek poet Aeschylus, in 1833. This volume contains the second translation, which she completed in 1850. Also included is "Sonnets from the Portuguese" (1850), a work inspired by the pet name used by her husband, poet Robert Browning.
