Signed book: Ten Ever-Lovin’ Years with Pogo by Walt Kelly. First edition, first printing. NY: Simon & Schuster, 1959. Hardcover with dust jacket, 9.5 x 11.25, 288 pages. Signed and inscribed on a first free end page in black ink, “To William, for continuous enjoyment—Affty, Eleanor Roosevelt.” Various edge tears to clipped dust jacket, otherwise fine condition. This book is inscribed to celebrity biographer William Turner Levy, who wrote a book about Eleanor Roosevelt. The first lady was said to be a fan of the Pogo comic strip, particularly the politically charged ones, and was reportedly asked to ‘endorse’ Pogo in his 1956 mock presidential bid.
