<B>Eleanor Roosevelt Typed Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>Eleanor Roosevelt.</B></I>" One page, 5.75" x 6.75", Hyde Park, New York, August 18, 1939. This letter was written to a Mrs. Sherwood, it reads in part, "<I>…I should like so much to have you and your daughter come up to lunch with me at the cottage next week?…</B></I>" Eleanor was the longest serving first lady in history, and in her time in the White House she was extremely active in supporting numerous causes, such as, the American Civil Rights Movement and human rights as a whole. Harry Truman called her the "<I>First Lady of the World.</B></I>" Eleanor remains one of America's favorite first ladies and her work continues to benefit the world. <BR><BR>The letter is in very fine condition; diagonal crease from center of the upper edge down to the center of the right edge; usual folds are visible. Letter is mounted with fillets and a black and white photograph of Eleanor that is mounted above a small plaque bearing her name and the years of her life. A handsome piece which is pulled together in a frame measuring 23" x 20.5" overall.
