Political activist and leader of the Black Panther Party (1935-1998). He became a political radical with his best selling Soul on Ice, an autobiographical manual of black rage against a white dominated society that inspired the black power movement. Handwritten diary notes in pencil, signed “Robin Hood,” one page, 5 x 7, no date but circa 1975, near the conclusion of his self-imposed exile. In full: "The Communists say they are out to take from the rich and give to the poor. They took from the rich and from the poor—in the name of the poor—and kept it all for themselves.” In fine condition, with two light paperclip impressions at the tope edge. Accompanied by a "Cleaver for Congress" mailing envelope.
