El Ranchero Cigar Labels by George Schlegel of New York. The first pictures "Capt. John T. Lytle, Secretary Cattle Raisers Association of Texas." This lithographed 7.5" x 6" inner label is a "must-have" for any self-respecting Texas cattleman! Captain Lytle (1844-1907), a CSA veteran, was possibly the most famous of the Texas cattle-drovers. He blazed the Western Trail (also known as the Dodge City Trail) in 1874 and, over the next fifteen years, directed the movement of nearly half a million longhorns to markets in Kansas, Colorado, and other western states. He lived most of his adult life at his ranch south of San Antonio after which Lytle, Texas is named, moving to Fort Worth two years before his death. Lytle's portrait is flanked by two images of steers, one a Texas longhorn. Very fine condition with some light handling and surface soiling.

The second is a lithographed 7.25" x 6" text-only inner label with "El Ranchero" in a red and gold-embossed fancy script across a blue circular background. Fine condition.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
