disbound, 7.75 x 4.5" images mounted on larger 9 x 6" cream boards with printed captions. Removed from Francis, C.S. 1889. Sport Among the Rockies. The Record of A Fishing and Hunting Trip in North-Western Montana. Troy Daily Times Job Printing Establishment.

The book from which these plates have been removed was produced by Francis, a Troy newspaperman to record his Western adventure that took him to Montana in the summer of 1889. The book published his letters written home, and was illustrated with 48 to 49 photographs taken by Francis. Only 15 copies were produced.

The images included here include scenes of Cree Indians, Indians at the Blackfoot Agency; two separate views of an Indian cemetery; Hotel on the Manitoba Railway; several images of various camps showing members of the part. In addition the group includes five images of scenes around what would become Glacier National Park, and are the first images ever published of that region. There are also two images of Rainbow Falls on the Missouri River. An exceptionally rare gathering of images.
