Eight Men Out Billy Maharg (Richard Edson) Cuff Link Props
Eight Men Out Billy Maharg (Richard Edson) Cuff Link Props - Sports has had its share of scandals lately but nothing will ever match the 1919 World Series when eight players in the Chicago White Sox took bribes to throw the series. In 1988, John Sayles, made "Eight Men Out", an emotionally charged dramatization of the scandal. Among the cast was cult legend Richard Edson, playing White Sox player Billy Maharg. An accomplished rock musician (Sonic Youth and Konk being two of his bands), and method actor, Richard always did extensive research on his characters and would find little details to help him to create a realistic performance. For "Eight Men Out", he made sure to have special cuff-links, which he wore throughout the film whenever he was in "civilian" clothes. His character, being a one-time boxer from the "wrong side of the streets" would never have grown up with such luxuries, and wearing the cuff links, gave him and his character something special, now that he was a major league baseball player. Richard loved the links so much, that he "borrowed them for life" once the production was over, and has had them in his personal collection ever since. These are those hero screen worn cuff links from the movie. Richard will include a personalized picture of him from the movie to the buyer.
