Egyptian Wooden Sarcophagus Fragment. Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, 664-30 B.C. Brightly painted on two sides. Side A: Woman on bent knee with arms raised in adoration before a seated Osiris and a bearded deity; all, above a shrine. To right three columns of text: 'me (?). Your (plural) names.my bones are in him, flesh (?).my., may you (plural) rescue/carry off from.' Side B: A falcon upon a shrine, a standing male figure to the left and a mummiform figure to the right, with three lines of text to the right: "Open (in peace?) Breathing (?) in the field of the underworld (?). Height: 14¾".
