For your consideration is an Egyptian percussion conversion Snider carbine chambered in .577 Snider. Around the midpoint of the 19th Century, the benefits of breech loading were becoming obvious to all but the most entrenched military minds. A man with a converted rifled musket could fire 3 times faster than the muzzle loader. European armies began the arduous task of converting their vast stocks of muskets to breech loading arms. One of those conversions was Britain's first breechloader, the Snider rifle. The 25 ¾” round barrel is stamped with Egyptian hall marks. The original ramrod from when this rifle was a muzzle loader is fixed underneath the barrel. The converted breach shows a nickel plated binged loading port. The percussion nipple and hammer are in good condition. The hammer does not release when the trigger is pulled. The rifle has a wonderfully figured oil finished walnut stock. Serial Number: A1. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Matt
