British Protectorate 1/2 Millieme 1917 Lot, KM312, during World War I British forces occupied Egypt to protect its interests along the Suez Canal and to exclude the Ottoman Turks from further influence in the area. This bronze 1/2 Millieme was struck at the Calcutta Mint in 1917 only and imported to Egypt to help alleviate the small change shortage caused by the war. The examples in this lot of 50 pieces have been lightly cleaned long ago, and are now starting to tone. The current SCWC catalog value for UNC is $25, but observed retail tends to be more like $40. This is the only group of this scarce one-year type that we have seen in any grade, and these coins should be ideal for a small promotion or Ebay sales. Total retail value $1000-2000. Sold as is, no return lot.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
