Influential, forward-looking Austrian artist (1890–1918) who takes a place among the leading figures of the Expressionist movement of the early 20th century. Schiele was among the millions of Europeans who succumbed to the Spanish flu during the epidemic of 1918. ANS in German, on a 3.5 x 5.5 postcard, no date, but postmarked December 23, 1914. Brief note to his friend and now brother-in-law, the painter Anton Peschka. In full: “Please come tomorrow Wednesday at 2pm to me.” The address panel on the reverse was also penned in Schiele’s hand, and his signature appears again in the return address area. In fine condition, with a few light bends, light uniform toning, and a couple ink marks to signature. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
