This color lithograph in bright colors shows a mask-like face with a round head, circular eyes and hinted nose and mouth. The design of the mask pervades the artist's oeuvre, since he sought inspiration in African folk art after his move to Paris in 1932. The simplicity and archetypal form of masks fascinated him. In 1936 he exhibited the first mask images.
The lithograph in colors is signed lower right in pencil ‘Egill Jacobsen’ and inscribed lower left in pencil ‘E.A.’.
