In part: “What a compliment to have a distinguished author send me one of my own books for autographing! Something good ought to happen to you—will happen to you—because of this. I am sorry to inform you that the Hoe-book sent me is not a first edition. It was issued in 1899, but it is not one of the first impression”; and a printed copy of Markham’s poem ‘A Song of Victory’, 8 x 22, signed and inscribed at the top, “For my friend Carolyn Wells, Edwin Markham, March 1920.” In overall very good condition, with horizontal folds to poem, as well as a small tear to lower left corner.
