Civil War-dated partly-printed DS, one page, 7.75 x 9.75, September 26, 1863. War Department commission appointing George D. Ramsay as "Chief of Ordnance with the rank of Brigadier General in the service of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges, and a tear, and paper loss, to the lower left corner. Brigadier General George Douglas Ramsay (1802–1882) was a career officer in the United States Army and served as the 6th Chief of Ordnance of the U.S. Army. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
