American scientist and inventor (1909–1991) who pioneered inexpensive polarizing filters and, with his development of ‘instant’ photography, built his company, Polaroid, into an industry giant. He was once listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s richest scientist. Signed book: One-Step Photography. Later printing. NY: Van Nostrand Reinhold Company, 1977. Softcover, 8.5 x 11, partial reprint of 76 pages. Signed in blue felt tip on the title page, “It was always good to know you were reliably and competently behind the scenes. Gratefully—Edwin Land.” Also signed in black felt tip by co-author Howard G. Rogers and signed and inscribed in black felt tip by co-author Vivian K. Walworth. In fine condition. Land’s signature is scarce in any form.
