Rare collectible souvenir of a coronation that never happened. Edward VIII gave up the throne to marry Mrs Simpson before he was crowned.

One side shows the king-presumptive in profile inside a wreath with crown, ribbons and floral devices of his realm. The expected coronation date, May 1937 appears on a ribbon. Along the bottom it reads "Coronation King Edward VII.

On the other side is a crest ER (for Edward Rex) wreathed. Along the bottom it reads "Long Live the King." There are also acanthus leaf details on the spout and rope molding on the
handle and around the top. Blue sponge-ware finish.

Measures 7 inches handle-to-spout, 7 inches tall.

Good overall condition. There is a manufacturer flaw? a glazed-over chip? on the bottom. There is also some missing glaze (see detail photos). No other chips, cracks, dings or repairs found.

Arthur Wood backstamp on bottom. Impressed "Made in England". Both as seen in photo.

Circa 1936
